1100m above the sea level in the arms of green mountains and
beautiful waterfalls; Coorg is an important getaway point for the
explorer of the nature. The site provides breath-taking view of the
city. There are hills, coffee plantations and waterfalls, what else
can be better than this!
Coorg is much famed for extensive coffee plantations that cover
most of the hillsides. Most of them are under multiple cropping of
coffee, orange, black pepper, and cardamom at the bottom of the
slopes. Plantations are beautifully maintained with modern
irrigation and curing and processing facilities for the beans. When
coffee bushes blossom in April, the whole area is heavenly with the
exquisite fragrance of the brilliant white flowers.
Places of Interest:
Makikeri Fort:
A temple, a chapel, the prison, a small museum and assorted
government offices is housed by this 19th century fort. The fort
also offers Golf courses Madikeri and Pollibetta.
Nagara hole National Park:
It is amongst well maintained game sanctuaries in Southern India.
Elephant, spotted deer, sambar, bison, chital Jeep are mostly seen.
You can enjoy jungle safari on elephants.
Harangi:
Coorg is a beautiful reservoir and ideal for weekend or short
holiday staying at the guest house. Water sports can be enjoyed at
its placid water surface.
Accessibility:
Coorg is situated in Karnataka without an inch of rail track or
airway. The only way to reach Coorg is by road. Many buses operated
by SKRTC. Pass through Madikeri en route to Mangalore. KSTDC
organizes regular package tours.
